Agistix Inbound Shipment Management Service (ISMS) Unveiled
End-to-End, Enterprise-Class Solution Streamlines Inbound Shipping, Increases Visibility and Control with Minimal Upfront Capital Investment
Redwood City, Ca.—March 26, 2007—Agistix, Inc., the leading provider of on-demand Logistics Management Automation (LMA) solutions, today announced Agistix ISMS, a new managed service for simplifying and automating the inbound shipment process. Agistix ISMS is a comprehensive, turnkey offering that combines outsourced inbound logistics management methodology with Agistix’s award winning on-demand shipment processing solution, the Agistix Global LMA Platform. By leveraging Agistix’s breadth and depth of transportation knowledge, companies can gain control of the inbound shipment activity so important to the efficient operation of their global supply chains, while reducing transportation costs.
"The overriding objective of a successful transportation program is control. Unfortunately, many organizations have focused on outbound shipping, missing great opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce costs,” said David Fox, president and CEO of Agistix. “Our Inbound Shipment Management Service is a very practical, cost effective way to leverage the benefits of world-class solutions, technologies, and subject matter expertise without reinventing the wheel."
How ISMS Works
Companies typically allocate anywhere from 40 to 80% of their annual transportation spend to inbound freight, yet usually have minimal control over the carriers or service levels selected by their suppliers. In addition, they usually do not have visibility into where a shipment is in transit, making it difficult, if not impossible, to plan deliveries and inventory levels. The inevitable results of these disconnects include the inability to hold suppliers accountable for meeting service levels, the need for increased warehouse space, escalating freight costs, and diminished customer satisfaction
Agistix ISMS enables money-saving standardization and automation of the inbound shipping process from any authorized user with internet access. A user simply designates "Agistix" as the "ship to" party on all purchase orders. The supplier then contacts Agistix. A logistics professional enters basic shipment data into the Agistix system, which automatically selects and identifies the appropriate carrier and service level for that shipment, based on 50 unique attributes. The supplier then receives an e-mail message with the carrier's bill of lading, tracking number, and service level. Organizations receive instantaneous visibility of all inbound traffic, allowing them to curtail "rogue” or non-approved shipments and enjoy dramatic reductions in direct freight costs. In addition, a centralized data repository created by the Agistix web-based platform makes real-time data available to any authorized user.
"Most enterprises manage inbound shipments with spreadsheets, carrier tracking websites, and in-house applications—resulting in significant under-management," said Beth Enslow, Aberdeen Group vice president, enterprise research. "With buyers at the mercy of suppliers' carrier choices and the high cost of transportation, a seamless solution that enables control from P.O. to delivery and reduces their risks is critical."
